ATHENS – StaEllinika, an initiative for young Greek language learners of Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is expanding its offerings to reach new audiences around the world, including in South America .
The interactive language learning resources it offers are now available for Spanish and Portuguese speakers, in addition to English speakers.
Story-based and game-based language lessons, designed to engage all members of the Greek diaspora, from preschoolers to teenagers and adults, form the basis of StaEllinika. These were developed as part of Rebooting the Greek Language, a project of the SNF Center for Hellenic Studies and the SNF New Media Lab at SFU, with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
The result of a collaboration between the SNF Center for Hellenic Studies and the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the platform is designed to reach home to heritage learners around the world through independent study and academic programs, including through another SNF grant for Greek education.
