Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), which until now offered various professional and conventional undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses, has decided to spread its wings. The university will soon offer various courses in foreign languages.
To begin with, the university intends to start certificate courses in Russian, German, French, Japanese, Chinese and Pashto languages. Gradually, it plans to expand the programs by also offering diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
To provide these foreign languages, Central University is drawing plans to set up a new foreign language school on campus. Currently, the university offers Arabic and Persian to students at different levels.

“Offering foreign language courses is planned. Urdu and foreign languages have unique combinations. To start, we will have certificate courses in Russian and French as the teachers are readily available with us. Gradually we will invite a German teacher to start the German course. Very soon, there will be a foreign language school, on campus, which will be a separate entity,” UNAMI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan told ‘Telangana Today’.
Along with new courses in foreign languages, the university is also developing plans to introduce more professional programs. In perspective, diploma and undergraduate programs in nursing sciences. These programs will be offered in collaboration with other institutions and on the university campus only.
As part of the new National Education Policy 2020, the university is working to introduce new and diverse industry-focused and ready-to-use skills development courses.
“Based on the recommendations of the NEP, the university will have a separate department for skills development courses. The curriculum for the various skills development courses is currently being developed. Once it is approved by the various academic bodies, we will make it public,” UNAMI VC said.
Meanwhile, Central University is preparing to recruit faculty members at different levels in different departments. “The university will soon notify 60 vacancies in the reserved categories,” Professor Ainul Hasan added.
