Hyderabad: The University of English and Foreign Languages (EFLU) has developed another digital platform to provide free resources for foreign language enthusiasts. The digital resources entitled “Open Language Learning Resources (OLLR)” have been prepared in five foreign languages, namely Chinese, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. The OLLRs were officially launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a grand ceremony held on the sprawling campus of EFL University on July 4.
With the aim of imparting foreign language skills to foreign language enthusiasts, OLLRs are also being prepared in eight other languages. Over 60 lessons have been made available through the OLLRs. The Union Education Minister said that EFLU has a pivotal role to play in the changing geopolitical order with its potential to promote and provide language services. “Language is the number one instrument on the path to transformation in the 21st century, where ideas and knowledge enjoy supremacy,” said Dharmendra Pradhan.
The minister also suggested that EFLU should emerge as a multidisciplinary university and expand into other disciplines to establish its own benchmark, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. E. Suresh Kumar, who is also member of the University Grants Committee. The OLLRs project was initiated as part of the University’s Social Responsibility Conceptualization (USR) and is implemented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suresh Kumar.
