I want at least to learn some basic words.

I’ve studied French for 8 years and from my experience people always get stuck on the verbs (conjugation) and then 2nd to that is the vocabulary.

So if I were you, I would try and find a french book and just tackle the basic verbs: avoir (to have), être (to be), aller (to go), faire (to do/to make).

My mentor told me to review the following with the kids: the verbs, avoir, etre, aller, and faire, a little vocabulary, and verbs with er, ir, and re endings. I have NO idea how to review this with them. I was thinking about playing some kind of reivew game with them but I really don’t know. Any Teachers out there got any ideas for me? Please help me!

Try just reviewing the verbs at the begining of class. Then split them into groups, and have sort of a "congregation competition" say like, she has, and a member of the group would have the write elle a. and the fastest answerer wins :] the group with the most points get un bonbon or something!

Here are a few tried and tested ideas: After getting the class to repeat the words after you while looking at the cards a few times, you could try: (1) getting them to repeat the word the way you say it e.g. high, low, soft, loud, singing etc; (2) holding up a card, saying the correct or incorrect word for the class to shout ‘vrai’ ou ‘faux’; (3) getting individuals to mime (or draw on the board) a word for the class to guess; (4) holding cards with their back to the class and slowly raising one for class to guess before you turn it round to reveal what it is; (5) giving cards to pupils when they say the word correctly – class then has to remember which pupil has which card.
